Bark grey, very rough with vertical fissures. Fruit red/brown pods with many green to brown seeds inside; unripe pod is fuzzy, dried pod is not fuzzy; size ranges from 15-23 cm. Leaves green leathery with notched apice and base, ca. 10 cm in diameter; loses leaves in July-Aug. People eat dried pod.
