Annual or perennial herbs or shrubs. Leaves alternate, entire, toothed or pinnatifid. Capitula heterogamous. Phyllaries in 2-many series, narrowly linear, lanceolate or oblong, the outer smaller. Disk florets whitish-yellow or greenish, bisexual but often sterile, tube with triangular lobes. Pappus accrescent, with numerous barbellate setae. Comment: According to latest research the genus name Conyza is no longer accepted and all taxa formerly assigned to this name have been moved to various other genera such as Erigeron, Nidorella, Microglossa or Eschenbachia. However, several species appear to be as yet unplaced so we have no choice but to leave them under Conyza for now. Worldwide: c.60 species, occurring in temperate and warm areas. Botswana: 0 taxa. |
