Description of the genus

Shrubs or shrublets. Leaves alternate, entire to serrate, sometimes decurrent, fleshy, glabrous. Capitula radiate or disciform, several-flowered, paniculate-corymbose or solitary. Involucre campanulate to tubular; bracts in 1 row, usually connate below. Receptacle flat, without scales. Marginal and ray florets yellow. Disc florets: corolla yellow, tubular, widened above with 5 ovate lobes. Pappus of many delicate bristles

Worldwide: About 10 species in Africa and South West Asia; 5 in southern Africa.
