Description of the genus

Shrublets or somewhat woody annuals, greyish- woolly to almost glabrous. Leaves alternate, slender. Capitula radiate, many-flowered, solitary on many peduncles, or sometimes corymbose. Involucre campanulate, phyllaries in 4-7 rows, sometimes with dark margins. Receptacle nude, or sometimes fimbriate. Ray-florets cylindric. Disc-florets corolla tube glandular with 5 lobes. Pappus of narrow membranous scales and 4-5 bristles.

Worldwide: 3 species, mainly in southern Africa, 1 in North Africa and the Middle East.

Botswana: 1 taxon.
