Herbs with a deep corm. Stems with 3-12 distichous, sheathing leaves. Leaves linear, erecto-patent, canaliculate. Flowers few-many in a cincinnus, pendulous on long patent pedicels which recurve apically. Perianth segments 6, free, persistent. Stamens 6. Ovary 3-locular. Styles long-spreading, 3. Seeds spherical. Worldwide: 8 species from South Africa north to Tanzania Botswana: 2 taxa. |
