In habit this subspecies resembles subsp. stipitata, but the branches of its panicle are lax and spreading at maturity, the auricles of the leaves are conspicuously barbate and the column of the awns does not exceed 20 mm. in length. Intermediates between subsp. robusta and subsp. stipitata are not rare |
