Description: |
Slender annual up to 100 cm tall, erect or geniculately ascending; ligule a short membrane; leaf lamina 4–24 cm × 1–8 mm, linear, flat, long-attenuate at the apex; sheaths and both surfaces of the lamina tuberculate-pilose, the hairs spreading.Inflorescence 9–36 cm long, ± cylindrical, brush-like; racemes numerous, slender, 2–14 cm long, ascending, straight.Spikelets laterally compressed, 2–4-flowered, 1.8–2.3(2.5) mm long, narrowly elliptic, overlapping; glumes unequal, the inferior 0.9–1.2(1.6) mm long, lanceolate, acute, the superior 1–1.7 mm long, narrowly oblong, obtuse and mucronate; lemmas 0.9–1.2 mm long, elliptic-oblong, keeled, minutely pilose on the back, bluntly 2-toothed at the apex.Caryopsis 0.4–0.6 mm long, broadly elliptic, obtusely trigonous in section. |
