Description: |
Caespitose perennial; culms slender, up to 30(45) cm tall, erect or geniculately ascending, the leaves mostly confined to the base; basal leaf sheaths persistent, splitting into a cushion of glabrous fibres; leaf laminas 3–12 cm long, scarcely more than 1 mm wide, involute, usually curved, sometimes straight or coiled.Raceme solitary, (2.5)5–12 cm long, rigidly erect.Spikelets 2.2–3.4 mm long; inferior glume slightly asymmetrical, narrowly oblanceolate-oblong in profile, acute or subobtuse at the apex, scaberulous along the keel; superior glume narrowly oblong in profile, smooth or slightly scaberulous on the keel towards the apex; lemma c. 2.5 mm long, narrowly oblong-elliptic in profile, obtuse to truncate at the apex, often shortly mucronate; anthers 1.3–1.8 mm long. |
