Description:
Small parasitic shrub. Branchlets velvety. Leaves opposite to alternate, green to grey-green, elliptic-lanceolate to ovate-elliptic, 5-11 cm long, velvety to slightly rough hairy on both surfaces with 8-12 pairs of lateral veins; petiole 5-20 mm long. Flowers in c. 16-20-flowered umbels, hairy. Bracts with linear-lanceolate, often leaf-like limb, up to 15 mm long. Corolla 2-2.5 cm long, hairy, pinkish red to bright red; lobes inrolled, lower part darkening to deep purple. Style red with capitate stigma. Berry obovoid, 6-7 mm long, bright red.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: rubroviridis: reddish-green or red and green, probably referring to the contrasting colours of the corolla lobes and the lower parts of the flowers and bracts.
