Description:
Small to medium-sized deciduous tree. Bark dark grey, rough and corky. Leaves spirally arranged, seldom clustered, narrowly lanceolate, up to 15 cm, dull green, leathery, finely hairy below, above only when young; apex tapering, bristle-tipped. Flowers axillary in dense branched clusters, small, without petals, yellowish green, sweetly scented. Fruit round, up to 20 mm in diameter, smooth, yellow when ripe.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: salicifolia: leaves like a willow (Salix sp.)
Habitat: In hot and dry open woodland and Miombo woodland, often on termite mounds.

Worldwide distribution: Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania, Malawi, Zambia, Botawana, Zimbabwe and Mozambique
