Description:	Multi-stemmed shrub or tree up to 10 m tall. Bark grey to creamy, smooth, sometimes flaking; branchlets densely velvety when young. Thorns sharply hooked, in pairs below the nodes, brown to blackish. Leaves with 6-20 pairs of pinnae, each with 12-30 pairs of small leaflets, greyish-green; petiole with a conspicuous, saucer-shaped gland near the base. Flowers in axillary spikes up to 6.5 cm long, white. Pods straight, flat, leathery, 6-12 cm long, hairless, dehiscent.
Notes:	Similar to A. erubescens but differing in the much shorter petiole; conspicuous petiolar gland; no glands on the rhachis; more pairs of pinnae and smaller leaflets. It is more restricted to sandy soils.
Derivation of specific name:	fleckii: named after geologist E. Fleck, who collected the type specimen in western Botswana.
Habitat:	In deciduous woodland and thickets, mostly on Kalahari sand.

Worldwide distribution:	Angola, Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe and North-West Province, South Africa.
