Description: |
Small to medium-sized tree up to 8 m tall. Bark conspicuously powdery orange-red, particularly on the branches. Thorns in pairs at the nodes, straight, c. 5 cm long, white, often with a reddish tip. Leaves with 15-44 pairs of pinnae, each with 20-40 pairs of very small leaflets, greyish-green, finely velvety; petiole with a gland just below the bottom pair of pinnae. Flowers in series of axillary spherical heads on the new growth, white, often appearing as terminal inflorescences. Pods flat, straight, up to 18 × 2.3 cm, hairless, dehiscent. |
