Description: |
Erect shrubby perennial up to 60 cm high with often annual shoots growing from a woody rootstock. Most parts densely covered in short, often gland-tipped hairs, sometimes also with scattered longer hairs. Leaves narrowly oblong or elliptic, 1.5-4 cm long; margin irregularly serrate; petiole 5-14 mm long, usually much shorter than half the length of the leaf lamina; stipules mostly 3-6 mm long, needle-like. Inflorescences 1-3-flowered pseudumbels, leaf-opposed or in the axil of apparently opposite leaves. Flowers whitish to pale blue, sometimes pink or mauve, veining darker; petals 18-24 mm long obovate with a truncate apex; extra staminal glands ovate with a ligulate apical appendage. Fruit 6-9 cm long. |
