Description:
Mostly prostrate perennial herb, growing from a woody rootstock. Leaves linear-lanceolate, glaucous; margin serrate, often edged reddish-purple. Flowers in axillary clusters, yellow, c. 1 cm in diameter. Fruit a cylindric capsule, 2-3 cm, on a twisted or curved stalk.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: asplenifolius: leaves like an Asplenium (Pteridophyta)
Habitat: In hot, dry woodland and on the margins of seasonal vleis and marshes.
Flowering time:Dec - Mar
Worldwide distribution: Botswana, Namibia, Zambia, Zimbabwe Eswatini and South Africa as far as Eastern Cape.
