Description: |
Erect perennial herb, growing from an ovoid to subspherical tuber, up to 10 cm in diameter. Stems single to few, erect, often twining terminally, up to 75 cm long, brownish. Leaves opposite, sessile, 12-15 cm long, linear to very narrowly ovate-lanceolate, green and finely velvety above, paler below; midrib whitish. Flowers in 5-10-flowered axillary and terminal clusters. Corolla densely finely velvety outside; lobes often strongly reflexed, up to 6 × 3 mm, oblong-ovate to triangular, green, often with a violet base, green-brown, maroon-brown or dull violet-red. Corona whitish to purple; lobes 3-segmented; central segment 5-6 mm long, much larger than lateral. Fruit paired, erect follicles, cylindrical-ovoid, c. 100 × 4 mm. |
