Description: |
Robust perennial climber with clear or whitish sap. Young parts covered in brownish hairs. Leaves opposite but often appearing clustered on short lateral branchlets, elliptic, dark green above, paler beneath, veining conspicuous, pale yellowish; margin wavy. Flowers in axillary pseudo-umbelliform clusters; sepals green; Corolla star-shaped, c. 2.5 cm in diameter, creamy-white, lobes often twisted, strongly scented. Fruit ovoid, velvety |
Notes: | The species may well be more widely distributed and occur as far north as Ethiopia and Somalia but is known there under a different name: Dregea rubicunda K.Schum. From available references it is unclear whether this is taxon concerns the same species. |
