Description:
Perennial herb or suffrutex with 1-several simple stems up to 75 cm tall, growing from a woody rootstock. Leaves 3-whorled, rarely opposite or 4-whorled, subsessile, mostly elliptic-oblong, up to 5 cm long, densely gland-dotted beneath. flowers in 1-3-flowered axillary clusters, deep or bright blue, violet-blue or lilac-blue with violet, yellow or white stripes on the mid lobe. Fruit deeply lobed, c. 8 mm long, black.
