Description: |
Perennial herb up to c. 30 cm high; basal organ a short swollen stem, 2-3 cm in diameter, arising from a subterranean tuber. Leaves variable, up to 10 × 4 cm, entire, toothed or pinnatilobed. Flowers solitary in the leaf axils, showy. Corolla with straight cylindric tube, 2.5-3.5 cm long, yellow, sometimes flushed purple; lobes yellow, red or purplish; throat yellow. Fruit c. 3 × 2.8 cm, 4-winged, cordate at the base, beaked. |
