Description: |
Perennial herb with multiple branched, prostrate stems up to 50 cm long, growing from a woody base. Leaves often clustered on short lateral branchlets, narrowly oblong, elliptic or lanceolate, 8-30 mm long with rough yellowish hairs on margin and midrib beneath; margin thickened and appearing minutely serrate because of bulbous hair bases. Inflorescences dense cylindrical or subglobose head, 2-7.5 cm long in the upper leaf axils. Bracteoles largely enclosing the calyx, broadly ovate, 20-32 mm long, green, sometimes with a white margin. Corolla 31-42 mm long, pale blue to purple with a whitish tube, rarely all white; lobes 9-15 mm long, upper lobes broadest. Capsule 14.5-17 mm long, hairless. |
