Description: |
Shrubby perennial, sometimes scrambling, herb, up to c. 1 m tall. Leaves opposite, narrowly ovate or elliptic, 4.5 - 9.5 cm long, more or less sparsely velvety, particularly on the veins, base decurrent on the petiole; margin entire; petiole 5-13 mm long. Inflorescences in spikes, 1.5-6 cm long. Bracts green, sometimes purple-tinged towards the apex, ovate or elliptic with a sharp, recurved apical point, mostly hairless except for short glands and usually conspicuously ciliate on the margin and central vein. Corolla pale to bright blue; tube 10-13 mm long; lobes 4, 13-18 mm long; lower mid-lobe widest, up to 4 mm wide. Capsule 9-13 mm long, sparsely velvety on the sutures. |
