Description: |
Shrubby perennial herb, up to 1.25 m tall. Leaves opposite, elliptic to ovate, up to 12 × 5 cm, usually smaller, more or less densely velvety, particularly on the veins and margin; dark sessile glands usually present; margin entire; petiole up to 10 cm long. Inflorescences in spikes, 1-8 cm long. Bracts green, sometimes with purplish veins, ovate with a long sharp apical point and a distinct central vein, often with non glandular hairs, glandular hairs and sometimes with capitate glands. Corolla bright blue; tube 6-13 mm long; lobes 4, 8-14 mm long; lower mid-lobe widest, up to 4.5 mm wide. Capsule 9-14 mm long, finely velvety on the sutures or near the apex. |
