Description:
Fairly robust annual herb, up to 120 cm. Stems mostly laxly branched, ribbed with appressed hairs. Leaves linear-oblong to narrowly elliptic or oblong-oblanceolate, up to c. 14 cm long, sparsely hairy on both surfaces; margin subentire to shallowly serrate. Capitula numerous on long hairy stalks. Involucral bracts densely hairy. Florets pale pink to purple.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: petersii: named after Professor Wilhelm Peters (1815-1863) of Berlin who collected in Mozambique in the early 19th century.
