Inflorescence terminal, capitate, subglobose, 3.5–9 cm long, sometimes with additional flower clusters in the axils beneath; bracts maroon to purplish, elliptic to narrowly lanceolate, 1.2–3.5 cm long, pubescent outside. Calyx 1.5–2 cm long, with lobes dark purple or pale green margined with purple. Corolla sweet-scented, white or creamy-white; tube 5–7.9 cm long, with glandular hairs or ± sessile glands. Stamens exserted for c. 2.5 cm. Fruit c. 1.3 cm long and 0.8–1.3 cm wide. |
Notes: | This species is similar to Clerodendrum capitatum (Willd.) Schumach. & Thonn. which is not found in Botswana. It clearly differs in being a low-growing suffrutex not a scrambling shrub or liane with spine-like modified petiole bases as well as somewhat different leaves. . |
