Description: |
Perennial, up to 1 m tall. FTEA does not recognize subspecific taxa, but notes that the species is very polymorphic. According to Gordon-Gray var. longus is never weedy, occurring in natural environments and is relatively rare, while var. tenuiflorus tends to be weedy and is frequently confused with the notorious weed C. rotundus, differing only in the faintly swollen stem bases and somewhat shorter glumes. |
