Description:
See subsp. virgulata for general description details. This subsp. is distinguished by a more bushy habit; Leaves on longer lateral shoots and less obviously appearing tufted; inflorescences mostly supplementary, 1-2 flowered on 1-2 cm long filiform flowering stems appearing axillary; indumentum whitish.
Notes:
Derivation of specific name: grantiana: after William Brebner Lyall Grant (1832-1862), Scottish-born doctor and naturalist who collected plants, birds and insects in Natal.
